
Julio Marino, Art Dealer, Restoration Expert & Artist
As an artist, his own work reveals a unique and individual style: neo-formitivism. Julio Mariño was born in Treinta Tres, Uruguay in 1932. At the age of 16, he began studies with Professors Taranca and Mancebo Rojas. By the 1970's, he formed part of Uruguay's "Grupo de 8" which consisted of leading Uruguayan artists.
Shortly thereafter, he established the Galería de Arte Contemporánea, which in its time came to be one of the most influential galleries of the Southern Cone.
Mr. Mariño's works hang in various galleries around the world as well as at the Uruguayan embassy, the Art Museum of the OAS, galleries in Miami and local and foreign private collections.
Julio Mariño currently resides in Washington, D.C., where he curates the Uruguayan Embassy's Cultural Foundation for the Arts, and continues to provide services in art restoration and conservation, collection management, exhibit installations and curations.He is actively involved in sponsoring the arts in the nation's capital, and welcomes guests to his home studio for private showings.
